MASON CITY – A Sheffield woman is guilty of drunk driving for a second time and serving a week behind bars.
A caller in Swaledale reported a suspicious vehicle in their driveway on the evening of March 1, 2017. A Cerro Gordo deputy responded at about 10:50 PM that evening to 10149 130th Street and encountered 34-year-old Casidey Jo Bertram of Sheffield. After an investigation, Bertram was arrested on a charge of second-offense operating while intoxicated.
However, Bertram was allowed to plead guilty to just first-offense operating while intoxicated. She was sentenced to a week in jail and ordered to pay $1,893.50 in fines and court fees.
Records show that Bertram was busted by Hampton police in 2015 for drunk driving and pled guilty the next year. She paid over $1,800 in fines and court fees and was sent to drunk driving school, which she completed in April of 2016. She was awarded a certificate of completion.
