MASON CITY – A man who caused a serious accident back in 2014 that left several people injured including a baby is accused of violating his probation after he was caught vomiting and urinating on a Mason City sidewalk.
Ashton Trenhaile, age 21 was charged with 3 counts of serious injury by vehicle back in 2014 after his vehicle crossed the center line of Highway 18 west of Clear Lake and smashed into another car carrying a woman and her baby, injuring 4 people. He was caught with marijuana a the scene. In a show of leniency by the courts, he later took a plea deal that gave him 3 years of probation and a suspended 5-year prison sentence.
However, Trenhaile has put his freedom at risk after an incident in Mason City back on April 1, NIT has learned. According to Mason City police, at 4:10 AM on April 1, a MCPD officer observed Trenahile, lying on the sidewalk, allegedly urinating and periodically vomiting near 13th Street and North Pennsylvania Ave. An ambulance was called and he was transported to Mercy. He was treated and released from the hospital. Trenahile was then arrested for Public Intox and Public Urination and taken to jail.
Because of this action, Trenhaile was soon charged with violating his probation. He was later arrested in Winnebago county and taken to the Cerro Gordo county jail, where he remains at this time, facing a probation revocation hearing and the possibility of a trip to an Iowa prison.
