2017 Cerro Gordo Photo Show Best in Show award winner Joshua Brueggeman of Mason City, Snow Queen, digital photograph

MASON CITY – Award winners were named in the 37th Annual Cerro Gordo Photo Show at the Charles H. MacNider Art Museum on Thursday, May 18th. Forty-six entries by twenty-four artists were chosen for the exhibition by a panel of three judges. Judges for this year’s competition were Dean Genth of Mason City, 36th Annual Cerro Gordo Photo Show Best in Show award winner, Peggy Bang, art educator and preservationist and Elizabeth Allison, Executive Director, The Music Man Square.

The Best in Show award of $150 was presented to Joshua Brueggeman of Mason City for his digital photograph entitled Snow Queen. Bruce McKee of Mason City received the second award of $100 for his digital composite image entitled Northern Lights and NIACC Campus View Housing. The third place award of $50 went to Alyssa Corell of Mason City for her black and white digital photograph, Third Trip Around the Sun.

Honorable Mentions were awarded to Craig Kienast of Clear Lake for the texture overlay image, Florence Blues; Julie Pals of Clear Lake for the image entitled Into the Light; Bruce McKee of Mason City for his digital photograph, Great Gray Owl, Sax Zim Bog; Paulette Searle of Mason City for her digital photograph entitled The Journey.

The exhibition is on display through Saturday, July 15, and is sponsored by the Safford and Lena Lock Photo Endowment Fund. Admission to the Charles H. MacNider Art Museum is free of charge.
