CHARLES CITY – A Charles City man is guilty after stealing tools and has been sentenced to a fine.
After an investigation, Charles City police arrested 36-year-old Bret Freiberg on a warrant connected to an alleged theft incident that took place June 17, 2016. Freiburg allegedly stole a powerwasher and weed eater. He first entered a not guilty plea but later pled guilty to third-degree theft. He was ordered to pay $2,335.75 in fines and court costs. He may also have to pay restitution.
Freiberg was arrested on April 27, 2016, again by Charles City police, after they were called to the 1400 block of Clark Street for a disturbance. He was charged with domestic abuse assault as a result. The charge was later dismissed, but he was ordered to pay court costs.
