Trump headed to Saudi Arabia, will announce huge arms sale to Islamic ally

WASHINGTON, D.C. – President Donald Trump this afternoon is boarding Air Force One for a long flight to Middle East ally Saudi Arabia, where he is expected to announce a huge arms deal.

President Trump said Friday morning he is “Getting ready for my big foreign trip.” He claimed in a tweet he “Will be strongly protecting American interests – that’s what I like to do!”

President Trump

The trip will reportedly be tricky for Trump, who said during his successful campaign for President that Muslims “hate” America and that Saudi Arabia might have been behind the 911 terror attacks of 2001. He is traveling with First Lady Melania Trump, and the press is wondering if she will wear a headscarf while in the strictly Islamic nation – reminiscing about a 2015 trip in which then First Lady Michelle Obama appeared without one. Trump tweeted at the time that the Saudis “were insulted. We have enuf enemies” (sic).

Major news outlets are saying the Saudis, however, are “pulling out all the stops” for the Trump visit as they expect the American President to announce an arms sale to the Sunni nation to the tune of $110 billion. Saudi Arabia is an enemy to Shiite Iran – America’s arch nemesis (or is that Russia, or perhaps North Korea?).

White House

As Trump boarded his plane, the White House sent a bulletin which reads “President Trump begins his trip abroad this afternoon, where he will make five stops. The President will be departing the White House at 1:50 PM. The President will seek to reaffirm America’s global leadership, continue building key relationships with world leaders, and deliver a message of unity to America’s friends and allies. He will be making stops in Saudi Arabia, Israel, Italy, and Belgium, and will be attending both the NATO and G7 summits. First Lady Melania Trump will join the President for the eight-day trip overseas. Stay up to date with the President’s trip at WH.gov/POTUSAbroad“.

RUSSIA

Trump leaves the U.S. as the press and his adversaries are abuzz over alleged ties between his campaign and Russia, whose hackers and troublemakers meddled in the 2016 Presidential election.  Reuters reported Thursday that persons with ties to the Trump campaign had at least 18 communications with Russia.  Recently, he allegedly divulged secret information to Russians who were visiting the White House – putting Israel (where the details were from) in a dangerous position – even as the American press was kept out of the meeting, but Russian press was let in.  A special investigation is being set in motion.  Former FBI director Robert Mueller – who has a reputation for impartiality – will lead the investigation.
