Opinion: Skipper’s right about term limits

John Skipper posted a re-cycled column this morning. It was quite appropriate never the less. I had noticed the absence of John’s byline during the past week. It is my sincere hope he’s off somewhere enjoying himself.

In his re-cycled column John touts term limits; if you don’t agree you’re brain dead. Look at Chuck Grassley……I mean get real! One would imagine that he would have voluntarily ceased to run for office 200 years ago to give a younger person the opportunity to buy cheap health insurance. This issue reflects more on us in the context of a voter living within a specified district that has been guilty of repeatedly returning Mr. Farm Subsidy again and again…..over and over.

Stop already! Any representative from any agriculturally based state would push just as hard for those subsides as would Mr. Cornstalk. It’s not up to politicians to impose term limits on themselves, it is we who hold the reins concerning that dilemma. All we need to do is refuse to vote for any of our representatives who have competed two terms in office. If you live in a farm state you surly have heard the mantra…..”You need to rotate the crops in order to enrich the soil.” Well……? Let’s rotate the politicians because you can bet your sweet ass they aren’t going to do it……

I see a definitive change in that. You are correct about low turnout but I think we might have turned the corner on the .67 tax levy. That turned out a strong no!

There are term limits in Mason City… wait, there aren’t because only 17% vote.

These congressmen and senators become mired in the system. More of these people go to jail than you can imagine.

I favor two terms for all elected officials. That would certainly help drain the swamp.

What you say here Peter is very true. The longer they are in office the more corrupt they become.

Walk and Bartz – the dark side —–

Mr. Children, we do have term limits. Vote them out of office. Sadly, the other party is running weak candidates. We need to take the dark money out of politics, otherwise, we will continue to have “the best government money can buy”!
