Gov. Branstad signs 9 bills into law

DES MOINES – Gov. Terry Branstad today signed the following 9 bills into law:

Senate File 32:  an Act relating to private sector employee drug testing.  This bill passed the Iowa House on April 3, 76-20 and the Iowa Senate on April 5, 35-15.

Senate File 433:  an Act relating to termination of parental rights and adoption proceedings, and providing penalties.  This bill passed the Iowa Senate on March 21, 49-0 and the Iowa House on April 12, 75-22.

House File 526:  an Act relating to the criminal offense of harassment or invasion of privacy, providing penalties, and making penalties applicable.  This bill passed the Iowa Senate on April 11, 48-1 and the Iowa House on April 18, 97-1.

Senate File 446:  an Act relating to asset forfeiture by prohibiting civil asset forfeiture for property valued at less than a minimum amount, raising the standard of proof for asset forfeiture, requiring a proportionality review for property to be forfeited, and requiring law enforcement agencies to retain certain records related to asset forfeiture and including applicability provisions.  This bill passed the Iowa Senate on March 28, 49-0 and the Iowa House on April 10, 95-1.

Senate File 431:  an Act relating to the sitting of small wireless facilities.  This bill passed the Iowa House on April 13, 93-0 and the Iowa Senate on April 18, 50-0.

House File 569:  an Act concerning authorized investment vehicles in a tax-sheltered investment program established by the Department of Administrative Services.  This bill passed the Iowa House on March 28, 65-31 and the Iowa Senate on April 12, 41-8.

Senate File 505:  an Act providing for the establishment of first-time homebuyer savings accounts in Iowa, including related individual income tax exemptions, and including applicability provisions.  This bill passed the Iowa Senate on April 17, 49-1 and the Iowa House on April 18, 87-11.

Senate File 489:  an Act relating to the possession, sale, transfer, purchase, and use of fireworks, providing penalties, and including effective date provisions.  This bill passed the Iowa Senate on March 21, 34-14 and the Iowa House on April 18, 56-41.

House File 607:  an Act relating to alcoholic beverage control and matters under the purview of the Alcoholic Beverages Division of the Department of Commerce.  This bill passed the Iowa House on March 28, 93-1 and the Iowa Senate on April 17, 50-0.
