Hawkeye football: Four players chosen in 2017 NFL Draft

IOWA CITY – Four Hawkeye Football players selected in this weekend’s NFL draft.

Those selected were C.J. Beathard, Jaleel Johnson, George Kittle, and Desmond King all got the call.

Quarterback C.J. Beathard was selected in the 3rd round by the San Francisco 49ers. In the 2016 season, he averaged 148.4 passing yards per game and completed 56.5% of his passes. He threw for 17 touchdowns.

Tight end George Kittle was selected in the 5th round and will join Beathard with the San Francisco 49ers.

Defensive lineman Jaleel Johnson was selected in the 4th round by the Minnesota Vikings.

Cornerback Desmond King was selected in the 5th round by the Los Angeles Chargers.

King and Johnson were named first-team all-Big Ten on the league coaches’ ballot in 2016.

“Tight end George Kittle was selected in the 5th round and will join Boatyard with the San Francisco 49ers.” What a hoot, did C.J. Beathard change his last name to boatyard when he signed with the 49ers?
