Bizarre assault reported in Minnesota

FOLEY, MN – A young Minnesota man was found wandering his pajamas and reported he was abducted and sexually assaulted.

On April 17, 2017 the Rice Police Department and Benton County Sheriff’s Office investigated the report of a kidnapping and possible sexual assault. At about 10:30 pm a concerned citizen called to report seeing an individual standing in the middle of NE River Rd near the intersection of 119th St NW in what appeared to be pajamas. Investigating officers arrived and made contact with an 18 year old man who indicated that he had been kidnapped, physically assaulted, and possibly sexually assaulted. The victim stated that he had been out walking on NE River Rd at the southern edge of the city of Rice when he accepted the offer of a ride from a stranger driving a dark blue or purple van. The victim reported that shortly after getting into the van, he was rendered unconscious and woke up some time later, alone, on the side of the road. The victim complained of several injuries including injuries consistent with being sexually assaulted. The victim was transported to the St. Cloud Hospital and treated for non-life threatening injuries. The victim described the suspect as a white male who is about 50 years old with a gray mustache. The suspect has a medium build and was wearing a baseball cap, blue jean jacket, and blue jean pants. The victim stated the suspect may have a southern accent. The victim described the van as a 2000s model full sized van that was dark blue or purple in color. The victim indicated that the van may have had a partition behind the front seats.

The investigation into this crime is active and ongoing.
