NIACC baseball team routs DCTC, 21-2

ROSEMOUNT, Minn. – The NIACC baseball team cruised to a 21-2 victory over Dakota County Technical College in seven innings on Tuesday for its sixth straight victory.

The 21 runs by NIACC was the most since the Trojans topped Southeast CC 22-4 in the 2015 NJCAA North Plains District title game and the third most in the Travis Hergert era, which began in 2013.

In the 2013 season, NIACC topped Miami-Middletown 30-1 in six innings.

In Tuesday’s game, NIACC freshman Bryce Ball was 5 for 5, including a double and home run, with four RBIs.

It’s the second time in the Hergert era that a player has collected five hits in a game. Bayden Waldock collected five hits in the 2013 win over Miami-Middletown.

In the month of April, Ball has two four-hit games and his 5-hit game on Tuesday. Ball collected four hits in a game against Southeastern on April 9 and four hits against Iowa Lakes on April 15.

NIACC (27-14) returns to action next Tuesday in a non-conference doubleheader at RCTC.
