Village Co-op residents hold annual meeting, elect officers

MASON CITY – The annual meeting of the Village Cooperative of Mason City was held March 20, 2017. Reports of the 2016 meeting and current financial status were received and approved. Financial Secretary Ron Stroup explained the Co-op’s financial standing and assured members the Co-op is well-prepared for the years ahead.

Safety, convenience, and cosmetic improvements made at the Co-op during the past 12 months were reviewed. Members’ participation on committees and other activities were noted. Their involvement helps keep the Co-op a safe, modern and comfortable fifty-household neighborhood.

During the meeting, members voted to fill one seat on the five-member board of directors. Incumbent Doris Smith was returned to the board. A later board meeting determined board members’ assignments for the 2017-2018 year as follows:

Doris Smith, President; Roger Brownmiller, First Vice-President; Bob Miller, Second Vice President; Ruth Graf, Secretary; Ron Stroup, Financial Secretary.

The Village Cooperative of Mason City opened at 275 N. Taft Ave in October, 2010. It is a member-owned community for active seniors age 55 and older and has been fully occupied since the initial move-in was completed.
