Alliant gives Mason City schools nearly $14K

Alliant official hands check to Director of Finance John Berg and Supervisor of Facilities Todd Huff

MASON CITY – Alliant Energy’s rebate program paid off for Mason City Community School District to the tune of nearly $14,000.

The Mason City School District reported that Alliant Energy presented a check to Director of Finance John Berg and Supervisor of Facilities Todd Huff. The check was for a rebate payment of $13,915 from Alliant Energy for the Mason City Community School District as a result of energy efficient mechanical upgrades at the high school campus included as part of the Phase 6B mechanical project.

The district thanked “Todd and John for all of your hard work to make our project energy efficient and filing the paperwork for these rebates.”

Back in 2015, the Mason City School Board awarded the low base bid of $5,575,00.00 plus the Alternates G-1 through G-7 to Henkel Construction Co. and approved the total construction contract of $7,001,200.00 for the Mason City Community Schools Phase 6B renovations and Mechanical Upgrades Project.

The approximately 30,000 square foot renovation of the one-story classroom area of the high school included building envelope upgrades, classroom and restroom remodeling, locker replacement, HVAC upgrades/replacement, automatic sprinkler installation, lighting upgrades and power/communication upgrades. The project also included window replacement in the high school office, lounge, commons, study hall, Credit Recovery Program classrooms and in the high school gym wing. The Culinary Arts room included a renovated kitchen lab stations and dining area.
