Trump’s approval rating drops to new low of 36%

President Donald Trump

WASHINGTON, D.C. – President Donald Trump’s job approval rating fell to 36% over the weekend after Republicans’ failed effort Friday to repeal and replace Obamacare.

Gallup reports Trump’s new approval rating of 36% is one point lower than his 37% approval rating recorded earlier this month. His high was 48%, just after inauguration.

Trump’s style of governing continues to divide a nation already severely at odds. His campaign slogan was “Make America Great Again”. He has vowed to unite the nation behind his controversial ambitions, which include deporting illegal aliens, building a wall with Mexico, huge tax cuts and dismantling certain federal government agencies from within.  News reports from the “mainstream media” about President Trump on golf outings and investigations into alleged ties to Russia continue to hamper his public outlook.  Bombastic “tweets” via social media also have raised eyebrows.

Gallup numbers show that Presidents George W. Bush (lowest approval rating: 25%), George H.W. Bush (29%), Ronald Reagan (35%), Jimmy Carter (28%), Richard Nixon (24%), Lyndon Johnson (35%) and Harry Truman (22%) all had job approval ratings lower than 36% at least once during their administrations.
