Recreational marijuana smokers can expect crackdown, White House spokesman says

Sean Spicer, via LinkedIn

WASHINGTON, D.C. – The legal system could get even spicier for weed smokers and possessors as the federal government could start to crackdown on the illegal activity.

White House spokesman Sean Spicer was asked about the was asked at a press briefing this week about the use of marijuana for medical and recreational reasons and if the federal government is going to take some sort of action on enforcement of laws governing the issues.

Federal law notes that marijuana is a schedule 1 substance, and folks have a high propensity for abuse of it, under that code.

In response to questions from reporters, Spicer said:

“I think medical marijuana, I’ve said before that the President understands the pain and suffering that many people go through who are facing especially terminal diseases and the comfort that some of these drugs, including medical marijuana, can bring to them. And that’s one that Congress, through a rider in 2011 — looking for a little help — I think put in an appropriations bill saying the Department of Justice wouldn’t be funded to go after those folks.

“There is a big difference between that and recreational marijuana. And I think that when you see something like the opioid addiction crisis blossoming in so many states around this country, the last thing that we should be doing is encouraging people. There is still a federal law that we need to abide by in terms of the medical — when it comes to recreational marijuana and other drugs of that nature.

“So I think there’s a big difference between medical marijuana, which states have a — the states where it’s allowed, in accordance with the appropriations rider, have set forth a process to administer and regulate that usage, versus recreational marijuana. That’s a very, very different subject.  I do believe that you’ll see greater enforcement of it. Because again, there’s a big difference between the medical use which Congress has, through an appropriations rider in 2014, made very clear what their intent was in terms of how the Department of Justice would handle that issue. That’s very different than the recreational use, which is something the Department of Justice I think will be further looking into.”

They need to go after the meth heads and crack heads. Leave the pot smokers alone.

Same thing. They are all breaking the law.

A growing number of states have determined otherwise on marijuana. The momentum is shifting toward legalization in one form or another.

Trump for State Rights we will see?The states that it is legal it was voted on by the people that live there.Meth.is the Drug everyone should worry about those people will steal, kill, ruin their lives and their families. And fill ours jails and the others will have many mental problems for years to come.Work ethic out the window also, ever see a Meth head see a job through completion bet not.Not all marijuana user’s sit and smoke( joint or bowl) all day ,several hits and your done

Oh…… and not a states rights issue? Way to go Donnie Draft Dodger.

Pot is so addicting, expensive & makes ya lazy. Good for getting taxes but Crack down on welfare creeps that get stoned on the workers dime .

You really shouldn’t comment on things you know nothing about. By your statement it is obvious you know nothing about the majority of marijuana users.

Tell that to the drug criminals in jail.

Tell that to the criminal drug users in jail.

I have been there & done that crap, it was fun for a season, then addiction, then I grew up . I don’t care if you get stoned on your time & dime but don’t tread on me .

You must have been one of the minority that had issues when you used. Most of the people I know that use are productive people to society. Professionals that you would have no idea they use. It is no different then drinking, most do it responsibly and it doesn’t interfere with their daily life. If it was legal and people didn’t have to use in secret the stigma would change.

States rights is the Republicans’ reason for the transgender executive order, the voucher system, etc. except when it comes to something they know nothing about. Then the feds need to get involved. More hypocrisy from the right.

Hey Village IDIOT. Stay off the site. You are banned and we all know you are a convicted dope head.

Trashy TROLL Jeremy Schultz gone again

Another FAKE Headline. That is not what was said at all. They are leaving it to the justice dept. to enforce all Federal Laws as the should. If dope heads don’t like it get the law changed. Until then obey the LAW.

You do realize that the so called “dope heads” have been trying to change the law for many years? The federal government has zero evidence to prove their statements of addiction and abuse. Do some research, our government has no actual tests to prove what has been claimed since marijuana was made illegal. It used to be sold in drug stores, and used by many. Than the fear mongering started, and our government never corrected the false information. Marijuana was made illegal as a means of limiting a market, and they used african americans as a means of justifing its legality. Racism, and false information is why marijuana is a schedule 1 drug. Not 1 person has died from consuming marijuana. Alcohol and tobacco take countless lives every day. Dont get me wrong, driving intoxicated is not okay in any circumstance. That goes for anything though. You keep killing yourself with your alcohol, ill have faith that justice will be done in time. Marijuana consumed appropriatly has many health benefits. There is absolutley no benefit from tobacco or alcohol. Its time the federal government was heald accountable for their miss information, and lack of actual justice. Marijuana is a schedule 1 drug, meth is a schedule 2. Marijuana should be a schedule 3, and meth should be a schedule 1.

There you have it Libertarian Trump voters…you were duped. Trump is a liar on ALL LEVELS. Join the resistance. Defeat the son of a bitch in 2018. Impeachment by 2019.

Fake news!

Spicer did not say that would be a crackdown on users. You just made that up because you wish he had said it.

This is not fake news Carl. Trump doesn’t like any drugs, except the drug of money and ejaculation. He’s a hypocrite liar on all levels. A pussy grabbing misogynist, chauvinistic pig. Casinos, high priced resorts, golf courses etc are what define this douchebag. He doesn’t give two shits about the greater libertarian state’s rights arguments. He lied on the campaign trail as much as he breathed, and he continues to do so. The DEA will begin raids as soon as they can. I hope Colorado, Washington, and Nevada react by mobilizing the National Guard to keep DEA agents out of the state.

Get off the site Greek. You are not wanted here and are banned.

#notmydruglaws

I think they should let the states decide and the Feds should stay out of it.
