Iowa woman attempts to dis-arm officer, then charged with felony

INDEPENDENCE, IOWA – Usually, trying to grab a police officer’s gun is a bad idea, and an Iowa woman found that out recently.

On Tuesday, February 07, 2017, Buchanan County Sheriff’s Deputies were called to the 500 block 16th Avenue NE in Independence, Iowa to assist the Independence Police Department in looking for a suspicious person that was reported in the area.

Deputies located Angela Eileen Lynch, age 38 of Independence, at the scene. Allegedly, during the interaction, Lynch then reached for a deputy’s firearm and attempted to resist arrest.

Lynch, of Independence, was arrested and charged with Attempting to Disarm Peace Officer (a class D felony) and Interference with Official Acts (a simple misdemeanor). She soon bonded out of the jail and awaits a court hearing.
