NIACC wrestlers stop No. 5 Iowa Lakes 35-9

MASON CITY – For the second straight night, the NIACC wrestling team picked up an ICCAC dual meet victory over a top 10 team.

No. 17 NIACC stopped No. 5 Iowa Lakes 35-9 on Thursday night in the NIACC gym by picking up three major decisions, one technical fall and one fall.

On Wednesday night, the Trojans topped No. 9 Iowa Western 35-12 in Council Bluffs.

On Thursday, NIACC gained major decisons from Austin Anderly (141), Colby Winnett (157) and Tucker Black (165) as the Trojans wrapped up their regular season competition.

The Trojans’ Jaylen Lee picked up a 16-1 technical fall over Dominic Endrizal at 184 pounds and Luke Erickson pinned Jovan Ignacion in 16 seconds at 197 pounds.

Other winners for the Trojans were Ryan Faught (174) and Mario Pena (285).

NIACC returns to action Feb. 12 at the NJCAA North Central district meet in Iowa Falls.

165 – Tucker Black (N) major dec. Andrew Tate, 11-2; 174 – Ryan Faught (N) dec. Eric Vigo, 4-1; 184 – Jaylen Lee (N) tech. fall Dominic Endrizal, 16-1; 197 – Luke Erickson (N) Jovan Ignacio, :16; 285 – Mario Pena (N) dec. Caeylon Barton, 7-2.
