CHARLES CITY – A Charles City man says he is not guilty of several charges – including felonies – in connection to vending machine break-in.
Daniel Leroy Connerley, age 39, has been charged in Floyd county with third-degree theft, second-degree theft, possession of a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia and ongoing criminal activity. These charges come after Charles City police responded to the 1900 block of Clark Street for a report of a theft on the afternoon of August 14. A vending machine at the Tobacco Outlet had been broken into, with an estimated property loss of $1,688.
Another charge of fourth-degree theft was added later in connection to an incident on July 7, 2016.
Connerley has entered a not-guilty plea in the case. He now awaits a February 28 jury trial and a February 13 pre-trial conference (possible plea deal).
Connerley, who has an extensive criminal history, was guilty of fifth-degree theft in 2016 in Cerro Gordo county after an arrest by Mason City police. He was also guilty of littering in Floyd county that year.
