Mason City man faces felony after police catch him damaging house

MASON CITY – An alleged burglar is behind bars Wednesday after a concerned resident heard strange grunting sounds in his basement and called police.

The Mason City Police Department received a call from a resident in the 1100 block of 9th Street SW shortly after 5 AM on January 4, 2017. The resident reported hearing what he believed were grunting and knocking sounds coming from the basement of the residence. When officers arrived, they found 43-year-old Joel Donaldson of Mason City damaging the furnace, ductwork, and exhaust vents to the residence. Donaldson was taken into custody then transported to the Cerro Gordo County Jail where he is being held on charges of second-degree burglary and possession of a burglary tool. The burglary charge is a class C felony and the possession of the burglary tool is an aggravated misdemeanor.

Donaldson remained in the county jail on $10,000 cash or surety bond.

So he was trying to steal the furnace?

Someone I know did 10k in damages to a house in Mason, criminal mischief was the charge. $500 restitution. The system is a joke.

Fricken piece of white shit

He should of had a job installing furnaces, then he could buy meth the old fashion way .
