UPDATE: Arrest made in downtown Mason City shooting

MASON CITY – Police announced Sunday evening that they have made an arrest in connection to the violent shooting incident that took place in downtown Mason City earlier in the morning.

On Sunday, October 23, 2016, at 2:06 AM, Mason City Police Officers responded to a report of a shooting in the ten block of South Federal Avenue. Upon arriving on the scene, officers found a male who had gunshot wounds. He was transported by ambulance to Mercy North Iowa. The victim is currently in critical condition.

The subsequent investigation has identified the shooting suspect as Revell N. Toney, age 19, of Mason City. MCPD has applied for and received an arrest warrant for Toney for Attempted Murder, a Class B Felony.

Toney was taken into custody at the Mason City Police Department this afternoon at approximately 3:35 p.m. He is currently being held at the Cerro Gordo County Jail on $25,000 bond.
