CHARLES CITY – Two disturbances near troubled low-income housing led to the arrest of a Charles City man for allegedly pointing a gun at another person.
The affair unfolded on the morning of August 7, when Charles City police were called to the area of the 2100 block of Clarkview Drive, home to the Morningside Apartments. Officer arrived at about 12:45 AM to investigate the disturbance, which involved an alleged assault and a person with a gun. Officers spoke to the parties involved, but no gun was located. Officers left when the people there refused to cooperate.
Then, later that same afternoon, police were called back to the 2100 block of Clarkview Drive, this time on a report of a person pointing a gun at another person. As a result of this police response and investigation, 21-year-old Cornelius Marsha Phillips of Charles City was arrested on two felony charges of going armed with intent. More charges are possible.
Phillips was taken to the Floyd county jail, where he remains held on bond.
The Floyd county sheriff’s office assisted in the investigation.
