FOREST CITY – A Northern Iowa man was sent to jail after a violent domestic abuse incident.
Byron Allison, age 62, was arrested on February 6 after Winnebago county law enforcement responded to a domestic incident. He was charged with domestic abuse assault with intent to inflict serious injury.
A source tells NIT that his alleged victim suffered severe injuries to her head and legs and was transported to a Rochester, Minnesota hospital.
Allison posted surety bond two days later and was released from the Winnebago county jail in Forest City. The next day, a judge set a no-contact protective order, barring Allison from contact with his alleged victim.
Allison later pleaded guilty to a reduced charge of first-offense domestic abuse assault. He was sent to jail for two days and ordered to pay $681.81 in fines and court fees.
In May Allison was accused by the Winnebago county sheriff’s office of violating the no-contact order in this case. He awaits a non-jury trial on August 8 and could face 7 days in jail if found guilty.
