Sheriff Rick Lynch makes it clear who he supports as his replacement

Rick Lynch
Floyd County Sheriff Rick Lynch

CHARLES CITY – Floyd county sheriff Rick Lynch released a statement Tuesday morning, making it clear he supports deputy Jeff Crooks as his replacement in this fall’s election for sheriff.

Deputy Jeff Crooks and William “Bill” Vetter earlier announced their candidacies for the office of sheriff in Floyd county, as current sheriff Rick Lynch is retiring.

Tuesday morning, Lynch released the following statement via social media, making it clear he chooses Crooks over Vetter (sic):

Chief Deputy Crooks has proven he is by far the most experienced law enforcement officer running for Sheriff by his actions and progress. In 2004 he started as third shift Deputy, then second shift, then investigator and now administration as Chief Deputy. BUT most importantly he understands what the citizens expect from their Sheriff’s Office and he is the ONLY candidate who has county law enforcement experience. Here is what I’m talking about. One candidate has ZERO law enforcement let alone county law enforcement and the second candidate also has ZERO county law enforcement experience, has no administrative law enforcement experience, was passed over by the City of Charles City twice for Captain and as their Chief of Police, which that says the CITY he works for doesn’t think he has administrative or leadership skills for positions that are below the Sheriff. The county citizens did not elect him the two times (Ya this is his third time) he ran for Sheriff. It’s clear to me who is the most qualified and I hope you join me in helping elect our new Sheriff by supporting and voting for “CROOKS FOR SHERIFF”

He also made his comments on the KCHA facebook page. Rick you post facts intertwined with you options. You also present half facts to forward your cause and personal opinions. IN MY OPINION, the sheriff department is a group of buddies and that’s OK if its make for a group of people that work well together, but you must also work well with other organizations and raise each other up, not spite one against the another. The good ole boy club does not make for a effective, fair minded whole community supportive sheriffs department. Very disappointed and concerned with the choice that a local elected official that knows well the quality of officer Vetter would make these comments.

I’ve known Mr. Vetter for many years and I would vote for him if I lived in that area. He’d definitely handle the pettiness up there.

This is an administration job, a job that must be able to guild our officers and the public as one, I’ve seen vetter, countless hours parked behind his store with the cities police car, the man never speaks, waves, or strikes a conversation without some arrogance. While I think his sevice to the military is great, he does not qualify for this job.

To clarify your comment Officer Vetter parks the car assigned to him behind the “store” when off duty so that account for the countless hours you may see it and he works a non standard shift so to head off your follow up it could be any time of day. Don’t confuse professionalism in behavior with buddy buddy.

Good thing that Rick Lynch isn’t running for re-election the choice would have been a lot easier after a statement like that. Anyone that has spent any time in the military would go to the top of the list in my book. Anyone that can help defend this country and follow orders with out questions, spend 25 years doing so definitely has the leadership and communication skills needed for the job. Ask any veteran that you know. I don’t want to take anything away from Deputy Crooks either, he has spent a lot of time paying his dues as an officer also. Just a shame to have a endorsement from a sheriff that sounds like someone stole his toys from his sandbox.

Wow very unprofessional

If I were Jeff Crooks I would be distancing myself from Lynch.
I’ve known Rick Lynch for years and he is a decent enough guy, but not exactly the sharpest tool in the shed.

Wow: if this is the professionalism that exists in the Sheriff’s office it is time for a change. Enough of the bulling, thug, and the good ol boy system that is in place. If you want to continue to compare how about Vetter has a degree in Criminal Justice and Crooks does not, talk about experience; look at his military record and his involvement in the community. Why is the office so worried that a professional will lead the department in a new and positive direction with Vetter and not all the negativity that is being displayed by the sheriff’s office currently. Yep time for a change and Rick is helping pushing people to really look at the current system in place. Keep ranting Rick.

I always thought Rick was an alright guy…… until I read this. It is his right, just like anyone else, to voice whom you support. The way he did it was unprofessional and and shows how tackless and unclassy he really is. I’m sure Mr.Crooks brings a lot to the Dept. but to try and demean (I’d say bash) Mr. Vetter was the wrong way to get his point across. Rick wants to say that Mr. Vetter isn’t in the dept. so that wouldn’t make him worthy of being sheriff? Was Rick a sheriff before he joined them, no and so what? He worked his way up the ranks and did a fine job as sheriff. Well from what I’ve read, seen and talked to with Mr. Vetter, I think he is a good candidate too. After reading Rick’s endorsement of Mr. Crooks I would be even more apt to vote for Mr. Vetter. Does Mr. Crooks have the same mindset or mentality on others as Rick? If I was Mr. Crooks I wouldn’t want that kind of support. For now on I guess I’ll have to refer to the current sheriff as Dick Lynch.

We all know Vetter is a big theat so that is why people are bashing him.

Lynch is a dick

Want to see what a true leader is and what type of leadership and administrative skills looks like? Go to http://www.VetterForSheriff.com and see for yourself.

The fact is the city wanted him to run and win the sheriff’s race because they know that he has the skills and will bring the county in line when it comes to serving the PUBLIC not themselves and a select group of personal friends like it does now. And hey, what does the comments by the current leader show about the department? Very Trump like and what leadership is.

Better gets my vote.
