MASON CITY – Things got heated Wednesday night at the Mason City Motor Speedway, as jostling on the race track infuriated the parent of one of the auto racers, who allegedly confronted the wife of his son’s rival.

According to a witness who described the confrontation to NIT, auto racers Nate Whitehurst of Mason City and Nate Chodur of Lake Mills were battling it out on the front straightaway during the B mods “A” main event. When the race was over, Whitehurst’s wife Kaylee was walking with their baby from the stands to the pit area when Chodur’s dad, Gary Allan Chodur of Lake Mills, started calling her profanities. She went to her husband’s pit down on the track and Nate Whitehurst confronted Chodur, saying “hey if you have an issue, tell me, don’t call my wife names walking thru the pit with our baby.”

Allegedly, Chodur started pushing Whitehurst and Whitehurst walked away.

Soon thereafter, as told to NIT, Cerro Gordo sheriff’s deputies converged on the scene and Chodur started throwing tools at them.

“They turned his own spot light for racing on him and arrested him,” the eyewitness said.

Gary Allan Chodur was arrested at the track on a charge of disorderly conduct. He was taken to the county jail, booked, and released pending a court date.

Nate Chodur came in 17th in the race (winning $110), while Whitehurst was 21st (winning $100).
