Former Mason City man accused of assaulting an officer, again

MASON CITY – A former Mason City man is behind bars Wednesday after he allegedly assaulted a police officer.

Mason City police were dispatched to the Autumn Park Apartments at 780 South Pierce Avenue Tuesday night for a smoke complaint. Officers arrived and investigated and encountered 44-year-old Jamie Alan Roggeman, who grew up in Mason City but now claims to live in Britt. As a result of his interaction with police, Roggeman was charged with disorderly conduct and assault on a peace officer. He was taken to the county jail, booked and held on bond.

Roggeman assaulted a Mason City police officer on October 21st, 2012 at the Cenex gas station at 504 1st Street SW after police were called due to an intoxicated person at the business. He was found guilty of the assault charge and the public intoxication charge, sent to jail and fined.

Roggeman also fought police officers on April 26th, 2011 when he called police about what he believed to be a dead body in a river in East Park. The body turned out to be a basketball floating in the river. When authorities showed up and tried to arrest Roggeman for being drunk, he resisted arrest.
