MASON CITY – NIACC center fielder Malique Ziegler was selected to 2016 ABCA/Rawlings NJCAA Division II baseball gold glove team by the NJCAA Division II Baseball Committee.
Ziegler, who has signed with the San Francisco Giants organization, was one of three outfielders selected to the gold glove team. Other outfielders selected were Catawba Valley’s Ty Andrus and Jones County’s Mason Irby.
Ziegler, who was selected by the San Francisco Giants in the 22nd round, was the lone player from the ICCAC on the 9-player gold glove team.
Ziegler, who was selected as a NJCAA Division II first-team all-American, had a .991 fielding percentage for the Trojans in the 2016 season. He had 133 putouts, 2 assists and 1 error in 63 games.
