MASON CITY – Iowa Gov. Terry Branstad was supposed to be in Mason City Monday to sign a new bill into law – but says he’s too sick to make the trip.

Governor Branstad was set to hold a public bill signing on Monday, May 23, at 10:00 AM. The bill was to be signed at REG Mason City, 4172 19th Street SW.

However,  due to “a bout of seasonal illness”, Gov. Terry Branstad’s office today announced that the governor will be rescheduling his public events on Monday, “out of an abundance of caution”.

According to his office, “the governor will be at home resting today.”

Branstad was going to sign Senate File 2309, an act providing for tax credits and refunds relating to renewable fuels including their component biofuels and including effective date provisions.  This bill passed the Iowa Senate 49-0 on April 13, 2016 and the Iowa House 88-6 on April 21.

Details for Monday’s public events will be announced at a later date.
