Clear Lake man says animals should not be hunted in city limits (video)

MASON CITY – A Clear Lake man told the Mason City council that the hunting of animals in city parks hold not be allowed.

“If an animal can make it to the city limits, that’s kind of like their safe zone,” Peter Lagios of Clear Lake said, during a public listening post Tuesday night in Mason City.

“It’s like hey, you made it.  Animals are not stupid.  They know they are being hunted.”

The city council is allowing bow hunting in certain city parks again this year, and unanimously approved the measure Tuesday night.

“For you guys to now allow them to get pummeled with an arrow, through their skin, resulting in loss of blood, organ failure and death, I think that’s just like “wow!”, Lagios said.

“That’s just cruel.  Give the animals a break.”

This jerk must not have ever hit a deer they destroy cars and kill people. Make us farmers fix fence forever. Dive outside city limits and look how many deer there are. way to many. Letting a bunch of crazy hunters out in a city is stupid But then so is this guy.

Deer Season is upon us soon. Tasty little boogers!!

In context he is right! There is no place for wildlife in Iowa anymore. The greedy subsidized farmers have cut down all the trees -even along the creeks which used to be against the law – but now what law! With the $6,000,000,000.00 Iowa fat cat farmers recieve each year in subsides have given them the power to plow and plant the roadside ditches and corn right up to their back door Thanks to the DNR – This outfit also likes Hoggie farms – screw the urban population. I for one feel sorry for Iowas wildlife and quit hunting years ago. As for the wild life preserves thats a joke -what do they preserve? At hunting time theirs 10 hunters there for every game animal. Stop hunting the preserves and maybe the deer wouldnt have to come to the city to see a tree.

Cripes… That’s the same outfit you wore when you were all folded up in your chair at the candidate forum at the Prime & Whine. It must be your “Sunday Go To Meeting” outfit. I wonder if you wear “Sex Panther?” 60% of the time, it works every time. VROOM! Next time, wear your “Work Clothes” from the rentals you expect to buy…and that imaginary company.

Clear Lake should keep people like that in the safety of their city limits. I think I would feel less safe with you in a park then a hunter being there.

Peter is one of those people with the kind of mentality that will see a Deer Crossing sign on the road and think, “why would they want the deer to cross here? This is a busy road and they could get hit here. Wouldn’t there be a better place to put that deer crossing sign?”

Tell Clear Lake Lurch not to worry about Mason City’s policies. He might change his tune if he happen to pummel a deer with his car, thru his grill, resulting in loss of fluid, and overheating and then the car dies, I think then he can say WOW like i did when I read about this!

There should be a hunting season on that idiot.

what a thoughtful and eloquently put suggestion of yours! i’m sure your articulate reasoning helped in building support for us in the hunting community!

Unfortunately there is no humane way to hunt/harvest deer, so Mr. Lagios uses a lot of dramatics to make people think that it’s wrong. If I, was concerned about the deer herd in Iowa, I would worry more about over population, and CWD, which is a horrible death, then the controlled hunting that goes on now. I think that the DNR does a good job at controlling the deer population, and has been doing it for 63 years. In my opinion, if a person doesn’t live in Mason City, he/she doesn’t have any business dictating city policy. So, Mr. Lagios, give Mason City a break, and stay out of it’s business, as I’d bet, most people don’t care what you have to say.

under our statutes lagos is as welcome as anyone else to voice his opinion. i respect that lagos – who is a vegan – opposes hunting. now, with ethics put aside, you are absolutely right about the risk for cwd as a result of too many deer in too small habitat, wether its a game farm in clear lake or a golf course in mason city. lagos wouldnt know any of this since he doesnt hunt – i wish someone would have set him straight.

.Your right, he does have the right to voice his opinion, it’s just the dramatics he used to do it.

A vegan? Obviously you have missed comments about Lagios shitting his own pants after eating at Burger King. He’s just a loon.

When a loud motorcycle makes it into the city limits are they safe too?

If they know they are being hunted then I guess they will stay out of the parks.

Yeah, at the risk of sounding like a kook, he saw the item was on the menu.

Stick to your failing law degree studies, Mr. Deer Whisperer.
