Mason City man guilty twice of domestic assault, burglary, theft

MASON CITY – A Mason City man is guilty twice now this year of domestic assault.

Jose Santos Najera, age 35, was arrested by Mason City police back on December 21, 2015, for serious domestic assault. On April 5, Najera entered a guilty plea to that crime. He was sentenced to 2 years of probation and 365 days in jail, with 363 days suspended. He was also found guilty of violating a no-contact order in the case and given an additional 7 days in jail. In addition, he must pay $953.75 in fines and court fees.

Najera was arrested on the morning of January 30, 2016, after 2:30 AM, when Mason City police were called to a hotel room at 3451 South Federal Avenue. He was charged with domestic abuse assault. On March 21, he pleaded guilty to that crime. He was given 365 days in jail with 362 days suspended. He was also given 2 years of probation and ordered to pay $1,608.63 in fines and court fees.

Furthermore, Najera pleaded guilty to third-degree burglary after an arrest in October of 2015 by Mason City police. He pleaded guilty on May 2 and was sentenced to 5 years of probation, a suspended 5 year prison sentence, and a suspended fine. He was ordered to pay $10,000.00 in court costs, fees and restitution.

Finally, Najera pleaded guilty to third-degree theft on April 5. He was given a suspended 2 year prison sentence, a suspended fine and 2 years of probation.
