MASON CITY – A potentially fatal fire was reported early Sunday in a residential Mason City neighborhood.
NIT readers reported that a man had died in a fire at 957 15th Place NE early Sunday. A fire had been reported at that rental house at 4:48 AM Sunday. Mason City firefighters and police arrived shortly thereafter.
A Mason City fire official would only tell NIT Sunday that the fire is under investigation and could not comment further. He did day that more information might be available Monday. He would not confirm that there was a fatality in the incident.
On Monday morning, the MCFD told NIT that “The Fire Marshal is working with Mason City Police Department and we are awaiting notification of family before any press release or fire report release on this fire and the fatality.”
