REVIEW: LDX screen at Cinema West Theatre located at 4710 Fourth Street SW in Mason City, Iowa

Could not have been more impressed with the LDX experience at the Cinema West Theatre in Mason City.
The price for entrance was slightly higher than your normal cost to see a movie ($10 for an adult versus $8.50) but it’s worth it.
Just as the CEC company website explains, the LDX screen (there’s two of them) features all of the following state-of-the-art features:
- Luxury power reclining loungers throughout the auditorium
- Reserved seating throughout the auditorium
- Dolby Digital 7.1 sound with over 30,000 watts of heart pounding sound with expanded surround coverage to deliver the most realistic experience
- New screens with state-of-the-art reflective technology to provide the brightest picture
- Digital projection that produces the clearest picture
All of these features are noticeable and make the movie-going experience a heightened one. We went to see a superhero movie widely panned by critics -“BatmanVSuperman” – and in the opinion of this writer, the movie was awesome and was made even better by this atmosphere and surroundings.
When you walk into the LDX theatre, which seats 100, that “new-car smell” strikes you from all the brand new red (leather?) recliners, spaced apart just right, and the new carpet. No more squeezing in – or sitting upright. If you prefer, you can recline all the way back and put your feet up. Why didn’t they invent this before? Plus, no more searching for a seat. You pick out your seat when you arrive at the theatre and buy your ticket by touching a screen. Your seat is reserved then.
The picture was the best you will see and the sound was perfect. Do yourself a favor and give the LDX experience a try, you will be glad you did.
