CLEAR LAKE, IOWA – Nearly three dozen folks are set to lose jobs at a Clear Lake tech company.

Teamquest employees were let go this week, as a number of employees were walked out of the building at 1 Team Quest Way. NIT is told they were escorted out of the building and then allowed Wednesday to clean out their desks.

The company announced 30 to 35 permanent reductions in their workforce effective immediately. A woman who answered the phone at the Clear Lake location couldn’t comment on the situation.

Clear Lake City Administrator Scott Flory tells NIT that “Teamquest has been a long time valued community employer. We are confident that they will be able to reinvent themselves as they have done in the past.”

Mr. Flory says the Economic Development Corporation (North Iowa Corridor) is working to assist those employees adversely affected by the staff reduction to find other opportunities as well as unemployment benefits for the interim.

NIT spoke with North Iowa Corridor – Cerro Gordo county’s economic development agency – CEO Chad Schreck Thursday morning. Mr. Schreck and his team have already prepared for the imminent layoffs as they were alerted to the situation ahead of time.

“Our goal is to get the affected employees introduced to as many local opportunities as possible as quickly as we can,” Mr. Schreck said. “Jobs in this career field are increasingly mobile as well, with a lot of work from home opportunities. Hopefully we will be able to get people connected and keep them in our community one way or the other.”

Teamquest offers IT performance management and capacity planning for physical, virtual and cloud environments.
