logo-iowa-state-patrolCHARLES CITY – A Charles City man was injured when the Buick he was riding in was t-boned by a pickup truck driven by a Floyd county deputy.

The Iowa State Patrol reports that 38-year-old Daniel Baker was riding in a 1999 Buick Park Avenue driven by Anthony Smith Friday afternoon in Charles City when the car approached the intersection at Second Avenue and F Street in Charles City. As the Buick traveled north through the uncontrolled intersection, a 2008 Chevy Silverado driven by 37-year-old Benjamin Kostka was westbound and went through the intersection, striking the Buick at the passenger side.  Mr. Kostka is a Floyd county deputy.

Baker was injured and taken to the Floyd County Memorial Hospital by ambulance. His injuries were not disclosed.  There was no word, yet, on any charges connected to the accident.

Not everyone takes drivers ed, but from what I recall right side right of way or not, when approaching an uncontrolled intersection, always slow down, check for cars, proceed. Treat it as a yield sign. A lot of ppl around here fly thru them all the time.

Not many of the Avenues or Streets are marked Yield or stop…it causes lots of problems!!!

I dont know this situation but I think that there is a thing called “control of the intersection”. If two people come to an uncontrolled intersection at the same time the person on the right does have the right of way, but if they dont arrive at the same time the person who is already in it has “control of the intersection” or the right of way.

Right of way does not matter if you end up dead.

Did someone DIE? No. Unbunch your panties.

Why does it matter if he is a cop or not?? Which I want to add that had the right away!!!

Think uncontrolled intersection 1 vehicle traveling north the other west which vehicle is on right side

He’s a cop, he won’t get charged with shit

If you knew how to drive, you would know he had the right of way at the intersection.
