IOWA CITY – Former Southern Conference champion Adam Jones has committed to join the University of Iowa track and field program in the fall of 2016. Jones is the 25th member of the 2016 class, joining the six men and 18 women signed by UI director of track and field Joey Woody during the fall signing period.
Jones, an NCAA qualifier at Samford University, will have one year of eligibility remaining. Iowa will also add Loyola transfer Antwon James and California prep Antonio Woodard to the roster in 2016. Both James and Woodard are enrolled at Iowa and practicing with the Hawkeyes this spring. James has one year of eligibility remaining. Woodard will have freshman eligibility in the fall.

Transfer from Loyola University will have one year of eligibility… 2015 NCAA qualifier… placed second in triple jump at 2014 MVC Outdoor Championships, placed third at 2015 MVC Indoor and Outdoor Championships.

Transfer from Samford University will have one year of eligibility… qualified for 2014 and 2015 NCAA Championships, earning honorable mention All-America honors in 1,500 meters in 2014… SoCon indoor conference champion in the mile and distance medley relay.

He helps take our sprint relays to new heights and will be a threat to score at the Big Ten Meet in multiple events. Anything from 100 to 400 meters and this guy can run it.”
