More details released in car-bus accident that gave child a concussion

school_busRURAL FLOYD COUNTY – At least one child was taken to a hospital after a car slammed into a school bus in rural Floyd county.

The Floyd county sheriff’s office reports that on Friday, February 5, 2016 at approximately 7:55 AM, deputies responded to an accident involving a Rudd Rockford Marble Rock school bus and another private vehicle.

Carol Wreghitt, age 72, from Marble Rock was traveling west on 240th street in rural Floyd County. She stopped at the stop sign that is at the intersection of 240th Street and highway 14. She then pulled out crossing Highway 14. A vehicle traveling south bound on Highway 14, driven by Craig Whalen, age 42 from Lyle, Minnesota, struck the bus in the right side rear. One Child was later taken by a parent to Mercy Hospital in Mason City for treatment and/or examination for a concussion.

No other injuries were reported at this time.

The vehicle that Mr. Whalen was operating was considered to be a total lose. The Rudd Rockford Marble Rock School bus had an estimated damages of over $3,000.00.

The accident is still under investigation at this time.
