MASON CITY – She was caught near NIACC with weed, given a deferred judgement, and then proceeded to violate her probation and earn a week in jail.
Amy Sue Dunning, age 30, was arrested by Mason City police on the evening of Friday, December 19, 2014 near the NIACC campus. Police conducted a traffic stop at 12th Street NE and California Avenue when a car Dunning was a passenger in had a brake light out. After an investigation, the driver was given a warning and Dunning was arrested for possession of marijuana and paraphernalia.
Despite being convicted of assault and theft in Floyd county around this time, Dunning was given a deferred judgement with probation and a bill of $812.50 for fines and court fees. Records show, she never made a payment on that balance.
Dunning was accused of violating her probation back in September of 2015 and a warrant was issued for her arrest. Police could not locate her. Last month, she was found guilty of the violation and sentenced to 7 days in jail. She was booked into the Cerro Gordo county jail Friday to serve her sentence.
