MASON CITY – A Mason City woman was caught trying to steal jeans at Southbridge Mall and then skipped out on a court hearing and a trial was caught and jailed on arrest warrants.
Mason city police were called to The Buckle inside Southbridge Mall on November 20, 2015, just after noon. Sarah Sue Schilling, age 35, allegedly stole two pair of jeans from The Buckle worth approximately $300.00 in total. Schilling was arrested and charged with fourth-degree theft because the value of the jeans was between $200.00 and $500.00. She was jailed and soon released, pending a court date.
Schilling was to appear in court December 2, but never showed up. A warrant was finally issued for her arrest on December 30 and she was jailed shortly thereafter. She will face an arraignment on January 12.
Schilling was supposed to appear in court on December 23 for trial on a charge of fifth-degree theft, also here in Cerro Gordo county, but she failed to appear. An arrest warrant was issued for her in that case, as well.
She also pled guilty in August in Floyd county to a charge of fifth degree theft.
