DES MOINES – An Iowa man is in jail after police responded to a crash that claimed a woman’s life in Iowa’s capitol city.
Des Moines police reported that on November 23, 2015 at 8: 42 AM, officers responded to the 600 block of 35th Street to investigate a report of a motor vehicle crash. Officers arrived to find a vehicle that had struck a utility pole.
Killed in the crash was 22-year-old Des Moines resident Scalicity Boyd. Ms. Boyd was a passenger in the vehicle that was driven by 24-year-old Des Moines resident Troy Lee Mure, Jr. Mr. Mure was injured and was transported to a local hospital for treatment.
The crash remains under investigation by the Des Moines Police Department Traffic Unit.
Later, Mure, Jr was treated and released from a local hospital. The Des Moines Police Department Traffic Unit arrested him for the following crimes:
Vehicular Homicide by Reckless Driving
Vehicular Homicide by Operating While Intoxicated
Operating While Intoxicated – 1st Offense
Mr. Mure was then transported to the Polk County Jail where he remains held.
