Mason City police investigate shooting

Screen Shot 2015-11-12 at 12.33.51 PMMASON CITY – A man arrived at Mercy Hospital Wednesday with a gunshot wound, prompting a call to police and now an investigation.

Police said today that on Wednesday, November 11 at about 11:PM, the MCPD was called by Mercy Hospital emergency room regarding a patient they had in their care with an apparent gunshot wound.

Police began an investigation, and discovered that the shooting took place in the 200 block of 6th Street NW, and evidence of a shooting was found at the scene.

The victim’s name was not released, but police said he was a 21-year-old male. He told police that when he was leaving a house in the area of the 200 block of 6th NW, he saw a small, gray car parked in the street and an occupant of the vehicle began to fire a gun at him. Multiple rounds were fired and the victim was struck in the upper torso. He was taken to the emergency room by private vehicle. He was treated and released.
