MASON CITY – Want to hunt some deer in a city park? Applications are now available in Mason City.

The Mason City Police Department will accept applications from those persons interested in bow hunting deer within designated areas of some Mason City Parks. In October of 2014, the Mason City Parks Board approved hunting in Parkers Woods, MacNider, Murphy, Georgia Hanford Parks as well as Highland Park Golf Course. Rules and an application process were established last year, the first year of the program.

A new provision of the application process includes a proficiency testing requirement prior to submitting application documents. This proficiency testing will be conducted by the Mohawk Archery Club. Testing will consist of 10 arrows shot at target(s) from 20 yards and 10 arrows shot at target(s) from 15 yards. An 80% score is required to pass and be allowed to apply to hunt within the City Parks. The cost to participate in this testing process is $15 per shooter.

The testing date is Saturday, October 10th from 11:00 am to 2:00 pm.

One of these days Mother Nature is gonna find a way to get even and pay backs are Hell.

there is a darn nice buck in the cage at East Park, I bet for a few hundred dollars you can shoot him too?
Lets leave the tame heard in the city limits alone. That’s why we go to the park, to se nature, not see nature get gutted

You can not shoot the buck in east park for any amount of money. Just for your information, the deer in east park do not belong to the city. They are privately owned and are there for show and tell. There are no tame deer herds inside the city limits. The city has 35 parks in this town, of which some are seldom used and on the outskirts. These are the ones that are possibly up for hunting. Chances are that nobody will take advantage of this because of the hassle of getting the permit.

agreed

If the deer aren’t tame it’s because man won’t let them become so. I was in protected parts of Colorado and the deer would eat foliage next to you sitting in hot springs. It’s man’s choice not the deer’s.

Were you stoned too or just washing your dirty butt?

Surely those 3 gentlemen thought you were cute too.

I doubt anyone stayed in the hot springs after you filled it with your bubbling crude.

Buzz, certain very boring and stuffing people don’t like our banter. That’s too bad. I work hard all week, and I feel entitled to some humor. A brown cloud in clear water is worth a chuckle.
glad you agree. You know once in Fairfield I let go and used a strangers hose in the back of their yard to spray myself off. I was never noticed by anyone. I’ve been very lucky like that.
