MASON CITY – Thanks to Obamacare, Cerro Gordo county has saved big on insurance costs for its employees in recent months.
Officials at the courthouse Tuesday claim that the county has saved a net of $1,068,000.21 as a result of what was dubbed as “positive changes” in the county’s employee health care plan.
The county’s top employee, Tom Drzycimski, told NIT that “the Affordable Care Act, … has provided opportunities that were previously unavailable to employers to restructure their plans to derive a cost savings like we’ve accomplished.”
In Cerro Gordo county’s case, Mr. Drzycimski explained, insurer Kingston Life and Health provided “the perfect combination of ACA-expertise and data analytics to propose a solution best tailored to the county’s needs. For us, it was perfect timing.”
The agreement the county now is under with Kingston Life and Health was set in place in July of 2014.

The County may be saving money and that is fine, I agree with Sad But True, when will our tax go down? The county employee’s will be squealing like pigs when they find out what the deductibles are.
I noticed the Globe’s article and they are FEATURING Jay Urdahl as the spokesman. I thought Phil Doughtery was the Chairman this year?

In other words they have dumped the cost on the people. Obumercare is going up 21% next year and the deductibles are so high it is almost worthless. They only people who benefit from this are the poor who get it for nothing while everyone else pays more for less.

Please explain how this lowers the cost of health care? If it sounds to good to be true it usually isn’t. $1,068,000.21 in savings sounds to good to be true.
What kind of services have the employee’s lost? That is a huge savings when it comes to providing health care.
