MASON CITY – Long-time Cerro Gordo county supervisor Jay Urdahl suffered a head injury at Monday’s Noon Rotary meeting and bailed before he finished his meal.
Sources say that Urdahl “bled like a stuck pig” after he bashed his head inside a men’s room at the Prime N Wine Monday. NIT informants and subscribers have confirmed that Urdahl showed up at the Noon Rotary meeting (he’s not a member) just before noon and was served his favorite dish – a free plate of food.
“He walked in like he normally does,” an NIT informant described, “and gravitated to the table with the most money.” California millionaire and former state champion Mohawk quarterback Mark McManigal was seated at the table Urdahl chose, as was multi-millionaire Harley Davidson of Mason City President Steve Minert. An all-star cast of the who’s who were in attendance, eagerly anticipating a fiery speech to be delivered by right-wing antagonist Todd Blodgett.
After filling his plate and chomping down numerous bites of free grub, Urdahl excused himself and got up from the table and made his way to the restroom. After about 10 minutes inside, Urdahl was seen exiting the men’s room, bleeding and roaming around with “a bunch of napkins” on his head.
A source told NIT that “no one really knows what he did in there, or what he hit his head on. Someone said he bent over to pick up his pen, which he dropped on the floor, and bonked his noggin on the vanity, or it might have been the front lip of the toilet. Either way, it wasn’t a pretty sight, and Jay never gives up on a free meal.”
Some briefly tried to help the supervisor and ask what had happened, but he ignored them.
“He started to walk back into the banquet room, but I saw him turn around and walk out the front door,” a person at the restaurant said. “He drove away”.
It is not known whether Urdahl went to a hospital or straight home, but at today’s Board of Supervisor’s meeting, his forehead was bandaged, and a welt could be seen on his forehead.

Maybe old Doc thinks having the superviser’s in his pocket is a way to keep his crack head problem son from going back to jail.
I use to work with Jay, still remember when he first filed papers for the Supervisor. He walks in, tells everybody hey I will win, the Blodgett’s just gave me $1,000 dollars a piece, doc, Mrs Blodgett, Todd. This was back in the “80s”, he is still at it. The shame is on all them that keeps him in, money is all this grubby man ever cares about.

Word is, everyone was blown away by the speech. I was there and as an elected official on the other side of the political spectrum, I was honored to hear what he had to say. Very entertaining to say the least.

You and Blodgett are about as on the opposite side each other as 2 political people can get, you still said nice things about him, thats cool. @ banker, Urdahl is to cheap to buy a gun, even tho he should get use to carrying. Your right, he voted to keep guns out of the court house. But resolutions are not the law. Anybody who has a permit can conceal carry into that courthouse. The state legislatures down in Des Moines they already decided that. I would bet every time Toddy boy goes in that court house to scheme his white supremist politics with his money grubbing buddy that pick’s his nose and steal’s food from other people’s plates there is a loaded gun in his pocket.

Since he’s a Democrat, it’s not likely he got decked for reaching under the stall for whichever male was in the next stall. @ Cindy, Urdahl should still be just a box loader up to UPS. He would of been to, but his drinking buddy Blodgett and old Doc bought Jay’s way on to the BOS. Now they keep him in. If he got jumped, he could have used a concealed weapon. But since he banned them all at the courthouse it’s likely he would never carry. His loss, and the thug’s gain who evidently beat his wrinkled ass.
@ Banker, concealed weapons that belong to permit holders are not and cannot be banned from the courthouse. You are talking about a resolution the supervisors voted for. Iowa has a preemption law that makes it illegal for a city council or county board to do anything that is counter to state law, and state law does not ban concealed weapons at county courthouses. If a permit holder ever got arrested for having a legal gun in their pocket or their purse at the courthouse, the charges would be thrown out and the county would end up paying a nice check to settle, because they would win any lawsuit they filed.

@ Irene. I am not in Rotary, wasn’t at this thing. But I don’t believe for a minute that Blodgett said what you say he did. No way. I have met the guy a few times, and he does not talk like that.
@Jeff H.-I agree with you. I have met Mr. Blodgett and have found him to be a class guy. He made a mistake when he was young just like most people have. He learned from it and is better for it.
