Man with BB gun on Southbridge Mall roof shoots woman, breaks window

MASON CITY – In what appears to be a bizarre incident, a Mason City man took it upon himself to take to the roof of Southbridge Mall with a BB gun and shoot a woman and damage other property.

According to Mason City police, a call for assistance was made Sunday morning at 1:30 AM to the Cultural Crescent, and the “area of the 11 Bar”. Officers were told upon arrival that a woman had been shot and the gunman was on top of Southbridge Mall. Before officers arrived, a window of an SUV parked in the city-owned lot adjacent to the mall and across the street from 11 Bar was shot out, as well as one of the front windows at Chop Restaurant and 11 Bar.

When officers arrived, a perimeter was created around the mall and the roof was searched. Eventually, officers found and arrested 19-year-old Jordan Adams of Mason City after a search warrant was conducted at an apartment in the 000 block of South Federal. He was charged with possession of alcohol under the legal age; possession of drug paraphernalia; 4th degree criminal mischief; 3rd degree criminal mischief; and felony intimidation with a dangerous weapon.

Adams is being held in the county jail at this time on bond.

Just another punk that got his way from his parents. No punishment will always end like this. When your kids do wrong things punish them but not beat the f**k out of them but by all means don’t run out and buy them toys and cars. Just no respect for anyone anymore.

I hope they throw the book at this idiot. But of course, our lame duck judges will more than likely let him walk.

I am sure the Mayor, Trout and City council will find a way to say this incident is Chop/11 Bar’s fault and use it agents their liquor license renewal.

What a dumb a$$. He obviously thought this stupid thing through after playing hours of violent video games and looking up to the psychos that shoot innocent people at the movies or on military bases. He’s damn luckey he didnt get his nads blown off and our PD would have been justified in taking him down.

Video games don’t make people go out and shoot at people. I am sick of hearing this over and over. Millions of people play “violent” video games and they don’t go out and commit violent acts. It is the individual not video games, music or movies. This person is obviously very stupid or mentally ill to some extent. His actions are his own, quit blaming everything else for somebody’s stupid decisions.

A BB gun is considered a weapon under Iowa law. He could have been shot and at the least he is in serious trouble.

He could have very easily been shot by the police. Jordan must be some kind of an idiot and is lucky to be alive.
