In fact, according to the Chicago Tribune, NAACP Spokane Washington Branch President Rachel Dolezal’s “family says she’s white and has falsely portrayed herself for years as black.”
The resulting firestorm has resulted in a vicious debate on whether Dolezal is committing a blasphemy against white or black people, or whether, perhaps, she is the world’s first “trans-racial” person.
Responding to the uproar today, the NAACP said “Dolezal is enduring a legal issue with her family. One’s racial identity is not a qualifying criteria or disqualifying standard for NAACP leadership. We encourage Americans of all stripes to become members and serve as leaders in our organization.”
The NAACP claims that “hate language sent through mail and social media along with credible threats continue to be a serious issue” for Dolezal, and said it takes “all threats seriously and encourage the FBI and the Department of Justice to fully investigate each occurrence.”
Earlier, Dolezal’s place of employment, Eastern Washington University, also came to her defense. Dolezal is a faculty member in EWU’s Africana Studies program. The university claims that “Ms. Dolezal has long been a courageous voice on issues of human rights and social justice. She carries those messages into the classroom, where she is both a valued educator and an inspiring role model for EWU students.”
Eastern Washington University President Mary Cullinan declared that “it is deplorable and shocking that Ms. Dolezal should be experiencing hateful and malicious threats. We stand strongly in solidarity with her, as a university and as a campus community.”
As the controversy unfolds, news media have released photos of a blond, seemingly-Caucasian Dolezal next to more recent photos of a dark-haired, dark0skinned Dolezal. Many on social media have defended Doleful, saying she is welcome to embrace “black culture” just as other people have embraced so-called “white culture”.

Hate to break it to you old timer but I see more white trash on welfare around here than any other race.
Got to admit there are quite a few. My comment really had nothing to do with race. It was a general comment about welfare and how people milk the system. There always has to be some jerk who tries to play the race card when they don’t have enough intelligence to debate. That is always a last resort for those type of people.

Regardless of all her good qualities and the things she has done, why would a seemingly Caucasian person claim to be black. I have never heard the words “trans-racial” before. So now it opens up another can of worms like, trans-vestite, trans-sexual, etc. This world with it’s morals, conscience, personnel responsibility, is going to hell in a hand basket.
