MASON CITY – A Monday afternoon brawl on North Federal left a woman with injuries, and police said Monday that one arrest was made.
According to witnesses, the incident took place at about 2:11 PM at the 800 block of North Federal Avenue near the Casey’s General Store.
“As we pulled into MC there was a fight right in the middle of the road in front of us,” A North Iowa woman said.
The large brawl apparently made the woman and her friend think twice about continuing north on Federal, so they made a detour… but couldn’t resist circling around to see what might happen next.
“So instead of becoming part of the fight we turned and went around the block and missed most of it,” the witness said.
They did manage to take a few pictures of the people involved in the fight, and offered them to NIT as part of this story. They claimed a woman was injured as the fight raged.
“One of these guys knocked a girls teeth out,” she said.
The witness told NIT that “everyone scattered when the cops came” but some lingered and were speaking to police once things quieted down.
On Monday, police reported to NIT that a female called police and said she had been assaulted by a known male in the 800 block of North Federal, Sunday afternoon. Police arrived, and after an investigation, Anthony Ray Green Jr, age 24 of Mason City, was arrested for Serious Domestic Assault.
“The citation mentions injury to her ear and abdomen,” a police spokesman said. “It’s not clear if the incident began with the male and female or the males. Some bystanders may have also intervened.”
