MASON CITY – If you didn’t get enough of the car show during the Band Festival this weekend in Mason City, there will be another one in town, coming up shortly.

The North Iowa Area Community College (NIACC) Automotive Department will hold an open house and community event on Saturday, June 6 from 10:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m. in the NIACC parking lot outside the Automotive Department. The public is encouraged to bring a car to display, there is no fee and plenty of parking will be available.

Tours of the Automotive Department will be available and the public can even take a turn on the Chassis Dyno which can test a vehicle’s horsepower. No tuning will be done or allowed. Any and all cars are welcome to use the Chassis Dyno as long as they can run in 2 wheel drive mode; no diesel trucks this day please. There will be a scoreboard for high/low horsepower numbers for the day along with prizes. Dyno runs are on a first come basis and are $45 for 3 pulls. Upon arrival, please come to the Dyno Run table in the automotive shop to register.

“We are excited to see some cool cars from the area and are looking forward to showing off our automotive department and the great features it has,” said Gerrot Jacobson, NIACC Automotive Technology Instructor. “We are the only one with a Chassis Dyno in our area so it will be fun to show the community how it works. We hope to see a lot of people come out for the event!”
