WAVERLY – A former Mason City High School wrestler and state champion was recognized as the “Freshman of the Year” by Warburg College.
Kaz Onoo was honored with Wartburg Golden Knights Male Freshman of the Year award Monday night. Onoo went 23-10 in his first collegiate season and finished fourth at the NCAA Central Regional Championships.
He was also recently named to the d3wrestle.com All-Freshmen team at 141 pounds and named Academic All-American this past season, reportedly the very first freshman wrestler in Wartburg history to accomplish this.
