3 NIACC players earn first-team all-region honors

niacc_trojans_logoMASON CITY – The No. 9 NIACC baseball team landed three players on the NJCAA Region XI first-team.

Earning first-team honors for the regional champion Trojans (46-13) are infielders Robbie Glendinning and Luke Becker and outfielder Daniel Bradley.

The three first-team selections are the most NIACC has landed on the first team since Tommy Mousel, Beau Ellingson and Danny Reed were first-team all-region picks in 2006.
Catcher/first baseman Juan De La Cruz, starting pitcher Quinn Ahern, relief pitcher Riley Pollard, outfielder Spencer Halloran and designated hitter Austin LaDoux earned second team honors.

Outfielder Troy Bullingham was an honorable mention selection.

Glendinning, a freshman, is hitting .418 (99 for 237) with 50 RBIs, 70 runs scored, 25 doubles and seven home runs. The 99 hits and 70 runs rank first on NIACC’s all-time single-season lists.

Becker, a freshman, is hitting .379 (74 for 195) with 58 RBIs, 60 runs scored, 16 doubles and 11 home runs. The 51 walks is a NIACC single-season record.

Bradley, a sophomore, is hitting .362 (76 for 210) with 58 RBIs, 59 runs scored, 14 doubles, 51 walks and 11 home runs. Bradley is NIACC’s all-time hits leader with 139 and is tied for first on the school’s doubles list with 31.

De La Cruz, a freshman, is hitting .350 (64 for 182) with 45 RBIs, 39 runs scored, 14 doubles and five home runs.

LaDoux, a freshman, is hitting .298 (48 for 161) with 49 RBIs, 35 runs scored, seven doubles and 11 home runs.

Halloran, a freshman, is hitting .340 (64 for 188) with 39 RBIs, 64 runs scored, 11 doubles and four home runs. The 64 runs scored is tied for second on NIACC’s single-season list.

Ahern, a sophomore, is 8-3 with 58 strikeouts and 13 walks in 71 2/3 innings pitched. He has six complete games and a 4.02 earned run average. Ahern has 11 career wins, which is tied for third on NIACC’s all-time win list. He also has 110 strikeouts, which ranks third on the school’s all-time list.

Pollard, a freshman, is 2-1 with nine saves. He has 36 strikeouts and 18 walks in 35 2/3 innings pitched. Pollard’s nine saves is the most in a single season for a NIACC pitcher.

Bullingham, a freshman, is hitting .335 (64 for 191) with 54 RBIs, 44 runs scored, 14 doubles and seven home runs.
