MASON CITY – NIACC’s Daniel Bradley was selected as the ICCAC batter of the week and the Trojans’ Tony Grabowske was picked as the ICCAC pitcher of the week for their performances at the NJCAA Region XI tournament.
Both NIACC players played instrumental roles in leading the Trojans to their second regional title in the last three years.
Bradley became NIACC’s all-time hit leader with 139 with a 2 for 5 performance in the second regional title game Monday against Southwestern. The sophomore led the tournament in hits (12), runs scored (12) and total bases (21).
Bradley hit a game-tying home run with 2 outs on a 2-2 pitch in the ninth inning against Iowa Central in an elimination game on Sunday.
Grabowske, a freshman right-hander, gained the win in the second regional title game against Southwestern. He allowed no runs on three hits in seven innings of work.
Grabowske had only pitched 4 2/3 innings since April 23 before getting the start in the title game.
NIACC (46-13) plays Southeast CC (Neb.) (41-19) for the North Plains District title in a best of three series starting Saturday in Beatrice, Neb.
