BALTIMORE – “I heard your call for ‘no justice, no peace,'” a prosecutor in Baltimore, Maryland said Friday, as she announced charges against 6 police officers in the death of a black man at the hands of police.
Marilyn J. Mosby, Baltimore City State’s Attorney, held a press conference this morning regarding Freddie Gray’s arrest and death. She announced that six police officers have been charged in the death of Freddie Gray in Baltimore. She said his death has been ruled a homicide.
Mosby acknowledged the rioters who want justice, but also said “Your peace is sincerely needed as I work to deliver justice on behalf of Freddie Gray.”
Mosby said the investigation determined Gray’s arrest was illegal and the officers will face charges ranging from second-degree murder to involuntary manslaughter, and/or lesser charges of assault and misconduct in office.
Mosby said warrants have been issued for the officers’ arrests.
Meanwhile, riots are spreading across the nation as unrest slowly builds. Mistrust of law enforcement and authority in general is reaching levels not seen since the 1960’s, some are saying.
