MASON CITY – A Mason City woman was arrested and another subject fled on foot and escaped after a deputy deployed a taser Tuesday night during a traffic stop.
Sheriff Kevin Pals said the investigation into the stop, arrest and chase of the suspects is on-going. The incident occurred at about 8:02 PM Tuesday night after a Cerro Gordo deputy conducted a traffic stop at North Federal Avenue and 16th Street. The owner of the vehicle that – Mallorie Elaine Wolcott – was stopped and arrested for allowing an unauthorized person to drive. That individual fled the scene on foot and managed to escape. Mason City police were called in and up to 9 law enforcement officers searched, but to no avail.
Wolcott is now in the county jail, and warrants are being applied for in connection to the fleeing suspect. Sheriff Pals said he would release that person’s name as soon as he is able to do so.
Later Wednesday, Sheriff Pals said deputies attempted to stop a vehicle on 16th and North Federal Avenue at 8:02 PM. “After a short investigation the driver was asked to get out of the vehicle and took off on foot. Deputy attempted to taser suspect as he was fleeing but was unable to apprehend driver. Cerro Gordo now holds active arrest warrants for Felix Arp, age 23 for driving under suspension and interference with official acts total bond $800.”
